The Whole green or sabut moong dal by Green Sense are small, round, olive-green coloured legumes with a sweet flavour. They are one of the healthiest sources of plant protein. The mung or moong bean is the seed of Vigna radiata, belonging to the Indian subcontinent. They are yellow in color once the skins are removed.
It has a high nutrient density and helps fight against many diseases such as obesity, diabetes and heart related issues. It has both insoluble and water soluble fibers that help maintain a healthy appetite. Water soluble fiber helps lower LDL cholesterol and protects from cardiovascular diseases.
They are typically eaten in curries, salads, soups and stir fry dishes. In the South Indian States these whole beans are seasoned with spices and fresh grated coconut in a preparation called ‘Pesalu’. Most commonly these are used to make bean sprouts by germinating the seeds and used in a variety of asian dishes and salads.
