Giloy has often been called ‘Amruta’ – the Sanskrit term for nectar. A powerful nutritive tonic, giloy / guduchi is one of the best herbs for balancing vata and pitta.
Giloy or guduchi has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic (that reduce fever) properties. Regular intake of Giloy helps in improving the immune system. It also helps in increasing platelet count. Giloy helps to control high cholesterol levels in the body by improving the metabolism and eliminating toxins from the body. Giloy may lower blood glucose level. So it is generally advised to monitor the blood glucose if you are taking Giloy along with anti-diabetic drugs.
One can consume up to 1tsp of Giloy powder once a day along with a spoon of honey.
Or make a Giloy decoction with 1 tsp of powder added with 1 cup of water boiled and reduced to half a cup. Filter and consume once a day.
